Richard A. Shearer
Age 59, of East Canton died Friday, July 31, 2009 in Mercy Medical Center following a 2 1/2 year fight with cancer. Born July 16, 1950 in Canton to Harold J. and Mary L. (Carpenter) Shearer. He was a life resident of East Canton and a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran. Rich retired from Republic Storage Systems in 2007 with 28 years of service. He supported Mapleton United Methodist Church. Rich loved hunting, fishing and spending time in his garage with friends and family. Preceded in death by his father, Harold J. Shearer. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Virginia E. (Youtz) Shearer; two sons and daughter-in-law, Brian Shearer of the home, Richard and Julie Shearer of Massillon; one daughter, Angela Shearer of Louisville; five grandchildren, Courtney, Nicholas, Kyle, Reilly and Alyssa; mother, Mary L. Shearer of Louisville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Loretta Shearer of Waynesburg, Russell and Vickie Shearer of East Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at 11:00 am in Mapleton Cemetery with Rev. Tom Woodson officiating. Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton in charge of arrangements.
