Richard "Dick" Shearer
Richard "Dick" Shearer, age 84, of the Robertsville/East Canton area, passed away March 11, 2007 in Aultman Hospital. Dick was a lifelong Farmer and third generation proprietor of the family business, Shearer Meats. He was well known as a livestock buyer around the Northeastern Ohio area and a 1941 graduate of Minerva High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chalmer and Florence (Sickafoose) Shearer; one sister, Pauline Rue. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and he enjoyed football, basketball and baseball. He played softball from 1942 to 1956 and was inducted into the Greater Canton Oldtimers Fast Pitch Softball Association Hall of Fame in 1997 for recognition of his softball talents. He and his wife, Frances enjoyed many years of travel to countries around the world. He was a lifelong faithful member of Christ Memorial Church in Robertsville, where he served on the Board of Trustees as a Deacon and was Treasurer of the Goodwill Bible Class for many years. He was a past member of the Robertsville Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Frances (McCaulley) to whom he was married 61 years; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott Shearer of Morrow, GA, Bill Shearer of Lakewood, CO, Tim and Beth Shearer, and their children, Ryan, Lindsay and Josh all of Robertsville; one daughter and a son-in-law, Kathy and Steve Pearson, and their children, Angela and Daniel of Arvada, CO; and his wonderful dog, Sandy. Funeral services will be Thursday March 15, 2007 at 11:00am in Christ Memorial Church, Robertsville, with Rev. Jeffrey Lord officiating. Interment in Robertsville Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 5:30-8:30pm in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services at the church (10-11am).
