Richard P. Mitchell
Age 79, of East Canton, passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at home with his brother at his side. He was born April 1, 1938 in East Canton to the late Lester O. and Dorothy F. (Harter) Mitchell. Richard was a life resident of East Canton where he formerly delivered newspapers, worked at Kress IGA and was self-employed for many years. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and the former Jr.O.U.A.M. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Smith in 2014. Richard is survived by his brother, Jim I. Mitchell of East Canton; six nieces and nephews, Cindy, Sandy, Dwayne, Kim, Steve and Christa. Funeral services will be Friday April 21, 2017 at 1100am in St. Pau’s United Church of Christ with Pastor Ed Dickerhoof officiating. Friends will be received Thursday 5-8pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services on Friday at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, the Osnaburg Historical Society or the Stark County Humane Society.
