Richard G. Fliger
The world lost a loving husband, generous father, exuberant grandfather and joyful human being on October 23, 2021. Richard George Fliger, born on March 16, 1943, was a lifelong resident of Canton Township and a 1961 graduate of Canton South High School.
Richard is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathleen “Kay” Fliger; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Lindsey Fliger and granddaughter, Asher; two sisters, Geraldine (John) Thompson; Mary (Dan) Lambert; brother, James (Darlene) Fliger; sister-in-law, Sandra Fliger; son, Douglas (Michelle) Fliger and four grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tim McCarthy; many nieces, nephews and special friends from Prairie College Elementary School.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy (Hoffman) Fliger; sister, Judy (Glenn) O’Connor; two brothers, Kenneth “Bud” (Janice) Fliger, Robert Fliger.
Richard retired from the Timken Gambrinus Roller Plant as Senior Process Analyst with nearly 39 years of service. He was active as an Assistant Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 250 and served as Westark’s District Chairman. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Canton South Advanced Education Foundation to financially assist the students of our community, c/o Dale Rush, 600 Faircrest St SE, Canton, OH 44707.
Calling hours will be in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave, on Wednesday, Oct 27, 2021 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm with the service to immediately follow. Interment in Evergreen Burial Park in New Philadelphia on Thursday, Oct 28, 2021 at 1:00pm.
