Richard Gordon Dine
Age 87, of Canton, passed away Friday June 24, 2011 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. He was born July 3, 1923 in Canton to the late Wilbur and Louise (Shew) Dine. He was a life resident of the Canton area and a graduate of Canton Township High School. He was a WWII Army veteran having served in the 774th Field Artillery Battalion where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded three bronze stars. Gordon retired from The Diebold Company in 1986 after 22 years of service and was a member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Opal J. (Farmer) to whom he was married 61 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry L. and Thomas Powell of Canton Township, Vickie L. and Jack Palmer of Columbus, OH; four grandchildren and spouses, Jonathan and Rachel Powell of N. Canton, Elisabeth and Todd Shuster of Las Vegas, NV, Joshua Palmer and Philip Palmer both of Columbus, OH. Funeral services will be Tuesday June 28, 2011 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Steve W. Kimbrel officiating. Interment with military honors in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
