Reece Jacobs Jr
Age 93, of Canton died Saturday, January 16, 2016 in Legends Care Center following a brief illness. Born December 19, 1922 in Marietta, OH. to the late Reece Sr. and Audrey (Powell) Jacobs. He was a life resident of Canton and a U.S. Army WWII veteran serving in Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes and was awarded five bronze stars and a bronze medal. Reece was a 1941 graduate of Canton Township High School. He retired from Superior Dairy in 1983 after 20 years of service. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame. Preceded in death by one brother, Paul Jacobs; two sisters, Dorothy Coleman and Helen “Betty” Surmay. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ella Mae (Howard) Jacobs; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Clayton Livengood Jr; one son and companion, Reece “Eddie” Jacobs and Mary Beth Dagenhard of Alto, GA; two grandchildren, Kimberly Dettweiler of Avon, OH. and Clayton Eric Livengood of Sterling Heights, MI; four great grandchildren, Branden Dettweiler, Gillian Smith, Aubrey and Caleb Livengood. A graveside service will be Friday, Jan. 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of North Lawn Cemetery with Chaplain Terry Livengood officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
