Ray A. Yutzey Jr.

Age 82, of Canton, passed away Tuesday June 20, 2017 in his home. He was born July 8, 1934 in Canton to the late Ray Allen and Viola (Dittmar) Yutzey Sr. Ray retired from Canton Township after 12 years of service and was formerly employed by R.E. Slutz Trucking for 38 years and Canton Truck Sales for 7 years. He served as a volunteer fireman with Canton Township Fire Department for 25 years and served as Chief for seven years. Ray had volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a former Canton South YMCA board member. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Yutzey in 1988. Ray is survived by his wife, Rita L. (Milhoan)Yutzey to whom he was married 24 years; six children and their spouses, Susan and Jay “Chip” Young, Debbie and Rick Wessels, Jeff and Paula Yutzey, Denise and Scott Hallett, Brent and Natasha Gump, Brock and Jennie Gump; ten grandchildren, Benjamin Young, Sarah Frank (fiancé, Doug Bracken), Kelly and Justin Solenthaler, Racheal (Joe) Viola, Zack Yutzey (Darla Ivins) , Joe Hallett, Codianne (fiancé, Spencer Taylor), Jobe and Hayden Gump.; six great-grandchildren, Marcus, Lorelei, Isabelle, Reece, Josephine and Gwen; Funeral services will be Monday June 26, 2017 at 11:00am in Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. L. Scott Bacon officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with the Last Alarm service at 4:00pm, and calling hours one hour before services on Monday at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice at 716 Commercial Ave SW., New Philadelphia, OH 44663 or the Palace Theater at 605 Market Ave N., Canton, OH 44702.
