Rachel E. Shearer
Age 91, of East Canton, passed away August 4, 2016 following an extended illness. She was born September 22, 1924 in Pennsylvania to the late Daniel and Olive (Drake) Hoover. She was a member of the Mapleton Homemakers and attended Christ Memorial Church in Robertsville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jason Shearer in 1979; three brothers, Allen, Harry and Irvin Hoover; two sisters, Ines Mencer and Laura Edgar. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Wilda Grosskopf, Dwain and Carolyn Shearer; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Linda Portofe. Funeral services will be Monday August 15, 2016 at 1:00pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Matt Doerle officiating. Burial will be in Mapleton Cemetery. Friends will be received one hour before services on Monday (12-1pm). The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for their wonderful care and support.
