R.E. Gilreath
R.E. Gilreath, age 84, of Canton died Saturday, July 7, 2007 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. Born August 20, 1922 in Suches, GA to the late Joseph H.S. and Murphy J. (Shope) Gilreath. He was a Canton area resident for the past 55 years and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he was a Staff Sergeant and served in the Pacific Theater. Retired from Berger Division of Republic Steel in 1982 after 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter and gardener. Preceded in death by two sisters, Bertee Gilreath and Lois Grizzle; six brothers, Herschel, Russell, Ralph, Joseph,
Hubert and Gus Gilreath. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby E. (Nicholson) Gilreath; two sons and daughter-in-law, Stan and Vicky Gilreath of Massillon, OH, Rev. Steven Gilreath of Carrollton, OH; one granddaughter, Kelly Gilreath of Massillon, OH; one brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Faye Gilreath of Suches, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at 11:00 am in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 2615 Prairie College St. SW, Canton, OH. 44706, with Pastor Ronald Howard and Rev. Steven Gilreath officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5 -8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday (10 - 11 am).
