Pilar Phillips, age 88, of Canton, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
She was born on October 13, 1936, in Cebu, Philippines, to the late Cirilo and Aurea (DelosReyes) Cabilete. A woman of deep faith and quiet strength, Pilar was a devoted and active member of the Northwest Church of Christ, where her presence and kindness touched many lives. She will also be remembered for the flowers she planted every Spring at the church. Pilar loved her pets Joy, Socks, Job. You would often hear her say “You’re like climbing a mountain.”
Pilar spent her working years as a waitress and was formerly employed at the Holiday Inn, where she was known for her warm hospitality and gracious spirit.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David R. Phillips (2012); her parents; and her sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy & Francis Obusek and Maryanne & Thomas McFrederick; and stepdaughter Diane Kitts.
Left to cherish her memory are her stepchildren, Sally (Alan) Polen, David R. Phillips Jr.; along with four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will always remember her with love and fondness.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor John Wright. Pilar will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
