Phyllis J. Stephens, age 78, of Canton crossed over into the arms of her Lord on September 3, 2008 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born April 24, 1930 in Sandy Hook, KY to the late Milford and Goldie (Hall) Weddington. She was a Canton area resident for the past 59 years and member of Grace Fellowship. Phyllis was an avid reader and loved books and board games of all kinds. Preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Weddington; one sister, Mary Louise Wells; one granddaughter, Bobbi Renee Dickey. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Rev. Lester Stephens; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Keith and Deborah Stephens of Canton; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Keith Dickey of Canton; special son and spouse, Ed and Jennifer Meyer of Bolivar; seven grandchildren, Rev. Konan, Shane, Joshua, Kimberly, Gabriel, Ethan and Katie; special granddaughter, Staci Ford; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Moore and Naomi Lewis both of Kentucky; one brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Linda Weddington of Dover; several nieces and nephews; special extended family, Ted and Ali Helm of Canton. Graveside services and interment will be Friday Sept. 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Melscheimer Cemetery with Rev. Keith Stephens and Bishop Webb Parsons officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Fellowship, 6282 Nave St. S.W., Canton, OH. 44706.
