Phyllis R. Goodwill
Age 94, of Canton died Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Inn at Belden Village following a brief illness. Born May 9, 1922 in Uniontown, Ohio to the late Edward O. and Sadie (Bowles) Hoover. She was a life resident of the Canton area and was the Salutatorian of the 1940 class of Greensburg High School. Phyllis retired from Mercy Hospital of Canton in the labor and delivery department. She was a former member of Mother Singers of Canton Township, Canton South Band Parents, Canton Local Schools PTA and had been a long time Canton South basketball season ticket holder. Phyllis was very kind hearted always doing for others before herself. Preceded in death by her husband, Dean V. Goodwill in 2007; two brothers, Wayne and Eugene Hoover; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann Goodwill; one granddaughter, Tonnie Rae Goodwill. She is survived by four children and spouses, William and Barbara Goodwill of Plant City, FL., Keith and Mollie Goodwill of Waynesburg, Linda and Chris Snyder of Jackson Twp., Robert Goodwill of Massillon; 11 grandchildren, Doug, Duane, Michelle, Angela, Matthew, Megan, Dustin, Paul, Steven, Melissa and Jessie; 17 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one half brother, Lowell Hoover of Columbus; several step brothers. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church, 4600 Fulton Dr. N.W., Canton, OH. 44718, with Rev Dr. Bruce Roth officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call prior to the service at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Haven of Rest Ministries in Akron.
