Age 82, of Canton passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at The Inn at Belden Village. Born in Canton, Ohio on August 29, 1933 to the late Homer and Eva (Rogers) Shonk. Phyllis graduated from McKinley High School and had formerly been employed with Dr. Nathan Rubin’s office. She loved traveling, fishing for walleye on their boat at Lake Erie, playing cards, playing bingo, bowling and being with her children and grandchildren. Phyllis was the league secretary for 35 years of the Elum Music Friday Night Mixed League. She was a former member of the Sons of Herman, McKinley Eagles Aerie #2370, the Moose Lodge, Women’s International Bowling Congress and the Skeeter Beeters Camping Club. Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Grosenbaugh. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lloyd R. Dunham; four loving children, Diane (Doug) Thewes of Perry Twp., Debra (Ralph) Winters of Orville, Donna (Paul) McKenzie of Perry Twp., Don (Leisa) Dunham of Magnolia; six adoring grandchildren, Tami (Jeremy) McKinley, Brittany (Victor) Davis, Michael (Renee) Thewes, Brandi (Ryan) Carman, Devon Winters and Leah Dunham; four great grandchildren, Cody, Peyton, Cooper and Sophia; two sisters-in-law, Mary (Mike) Kerkmann, Jean Dunham; many nieces and nephews. We will miss you every single day, but we are relieved that you are finally released from this horrible disease. Rest now, Mom. Free of confusion, with a clear mind and a happy heart. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff at The Inn at Belden Village for their compassion, kindness and exceptional care of our loved one. Also a heartfelt thank you to Aultman Hospice. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave with Pastor Dana Gammill officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
