Peter Tinus, age 60, of Canton, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident Born in Riga, Latvia on July 9, 1944. Pete and his parents came to America in 1950 after escaping the communist take over of their country. They spent two years in a displaced persons camp in Germany awaiting their sponsorship to the United States. Pete was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was employed for 41 years at the Timken Co., an Eagle Scout, 32nd. Degree Mason and member of Lathrop Lodge #676 F.&A.M. and was in the Marine Reserves for six years. An avid McKinley Bulldog fan, "Pistol" loved basketball and taking care of his lawn, and will be remembered for his kindness, caring, and generosity. Preceded in death by his parents, Janis and Anita Tinus and an infant son. Pete is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sheila; daughter, Renee Rogers; son, Mike Tinus and twin granddaughters, Marissa and Alyssa Rogers. Pete is also survived by father-in-laws, William D. Shaheen and John B. Pollock; mother-in-law, Norma Shaheen and sister-in-law, Kathleen Seroteck. A very special niece and nephew, Sherry and Jerry (Doc) Prestier, and their children, Jerry (Bear), Josh, Joe, and Jamie. Cousins, Maija Thomas and family of Coral Springs, Fla., and Dace Krievins and family of Sullivan, Wis.; Godson, James Hilton, Jr. and Goddaughther, Rita Stelben of Brookville, MD. Funeral service will be Monday, June 27, 2005 at 10 am. in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Norman Dew officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday 5-8 pm. Masonic services at 4:45 pm.
