Paul J. Pohovey
Age 87, of Beach City, died Saturday, January 8, after a brief illness. Born in Canton to the late Steve and Loretta Pohovey. Paul Pohovey was survived by Dorothy, his wife of 63 years, four sons, Don (Melanie) of Navarre, Jeff (Lisa) of Beach City, Gary (Kim) of Strasburg and Bill of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother James (Joan) of Canton and his favorite cat Stubby. Paul was preceded in death by grandson Jayme of the U.S Army and his four sisters.
Paul was a sergeant in the U.S. Marines, who served in Korea and Japan and was a member of the national rifle team. He worked in home construction and at Bliss corporation and Dyneer corporation. He later launched V&P enterprises which bought and sold heavy machinery across the U.S. He was also one time president of the Fairless Linebackers Club, a member of the North Industry Sportsman Club and a volunteer with the Richville Fire Department.
Paul himself built the family home in Beach City almost 60 years ago, the home where he lived until his death. He was an avid woodworker and was busy in his shop only days before his death.
Paul wished to be cremated and his ashes spread on the family property. At this time, no services will be held due to the Covid pandemic. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s memory to the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia.
