Paul D. Fitzgibbon
Age 73, of Canton, passed away Tuesday December 17, 2013 in Aultman Compassionate Care. He was born August 11, 1940 in Drew, Mississippi to the late Patrick M. and Pearl L. (Pearson) Fitzgibbon. Paul was a Canton resident since 1955 and was a 1959 graduate of McKinley High School. He retired from Republic Steel in 1996 after 32 years of service and was the golf coach for Canton Local Schools for more than 20 years. Paul was a member of North Industry Christian Church, Canton Lodge #60 F&AM and Canton Eagles Aerie #2370. Paul was an avid golfer and served as a community and school volunteer in numerous capacities for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Patrick M. Fitzgibbon Jr.; one sister, Polly Farris. He is survived by his wife, Janet E. (Tripp) to whom he was married 50 years; two sons, Troy D. Fitzgibbon of Magnolia and his friend, Barb Reinsel of Marlboro, Todd and Elizabeth Fitzgibbon of Canton; three grandchildren, Emilee (Andrew) Humphrey, Jordan Paul and Joshua Glenn Fitzgibbon; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Haylee Humphrey; one brother, Perry (Laurie) Fitzgibbon of Newcomerstown; three sisters, Pamela (Larry) Rice of Alliance, Peggy (Kenneth) Butler of Utah, Patsey Hidinger of Texas; sister-in-law, Georgia Fitzgibbon of Canton. The family would like to thank Dr. Schmotzer and his staff, Aultman 6th south and Aultman Compassionate Care for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be Saturday December 21, 2013 at 10:00am in North Industry Christian Church at 425 – 45th St SW, Canton, OH 44707 with Stephen Kimbrel, Delaney Young and Larry Lalama officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday 4-7pm in the church and one hour before services on Saturday (9-10am) with Masonic Services at 7:00pm on Friday.
