Paul A. Slish
Paul A. Slish, age 73, of Canton, passed away Thursday February 28, 2008 in his home following an extended illness. He was born September 3, 1934 in Canton, to the late Mike and Mary (Incheck) Slish. Paul was a life resident of the Canton area, a 1954 graduate of McKinley High School, and a 1960 graduate of the University of Scranton Pennsylvania. Paul was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired in 1985 from GenCorp (General Tire) after serving as Project Manager and Plant Engineer. He was a life member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Canton, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, John and Edward Slish; four sisters, Mary Suthern, Margaret "Peg" Riley, Dolores Zimmerman and Mildred Ramey; his father-in-law, Joseph Varela. He is survived by his loving wife, Josephine J. (Varela) to whom he was married 51 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Helen Slish of North Canton, Marc Slish of Massillon, William and Kendra Slish of Dover; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline Vickers and Dr. Roger Arnold of Canton, Paula and Mark Beadle of North Canton, Megan Slish of Minerva; 10 grandchildren, Jonathan and Paul Beadle, Aaron, Nicholas and Douglas Vickers, Jennifer and Regan Slish, Cassy Kopp, David Cox and Heather Wontor; seven great grandchildren, Lawrence, Isabelle and Olivia Beadle, Samuel Cox, Samantha and Amanda Wontor, Olivia Vickers; mother-in-law, Rose Varela of Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday March 3, 2008 at 10:00am in St. Paul's Catholic Church with Fr. Joseph Glexiner as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
