Age 91, of Canton died Thursday, January 20, 2011 in Hanover House following an extended illness. Born March 20, 1919 in Vincennes, IN. to the late Charles F. and Grace Lucille (Hogue) George. He was a Canton resident since 1950 and had attended Malone College. Charles was a minister ordained in the Baptist church in 1954 and served Alliance, Carrollton and Louisville Baptist Temples. He was also was licensed and ordained in the Church of the Brethren and served as pastor of Canton First Church of the Brethren for 23 years. He was a member of Eden Church of the Brethren. Preceded in death by one sister, Betty Wheeler; three brothers, Kenneth, Lee and Robert George. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty (Trautwein) George; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Ruth George of Lavonia, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Wesley Neff of Findley, OH., Patricia and John Birone of Augusta, GA., Theresa and Randy Gutshall of Canal Fulton, OH; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Marvin George of Visalia, CA; four sisters and brother-in-law, Gladys Sparks of Monticello, KY., Mary K. and Leslie Rexroat of Okmulgee, OK., Doris Westfall of San Diego, CA., Annetta Ruth Buckner of Henryetta, OK; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, January 24, 2011 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Zuercher officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Eden Church of the Brethren, American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
