Oscar G. Gobeli
Age 93, of East Canton died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Inn at Belden Village following a brief illness. Born August 19, 1916 in New York State, to the late Gottlieb and Margaret (Waffler) Gobeli. He was a 1936 graduate of Minerva High School and a U.S. Army WWII veteran. Oscar was an East Canton resident most of his life and retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1977. He was a member of the East Canton Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter, Ernest, Albert, John and Carl Gobeli. Survived by his wife, Laura Irene (Eckelberry) Gobeli with whom he would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on March 16, 2010; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalyn and Dean Zornes of Summerfield, FL., Claudia and David Vacco of East Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Zane and Karen Gobeli of Massillon, Duane and Carol Gobeli of Nobelton, FL; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Earl Eckelberry of Alliance, Lillian and Carl Cozy of Louisville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold and Ethel Gobeli, Norman and Ada Gobeli all of East Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 11:00 am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Pastor Michael Jones officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to the East Canton Church of God or to the Aultman Hospice program.
