Oranna Loy, age 92, died peacefully in her home on January 17, 2024. She was born on August 13, 1931, in Clarksburg, WV. To the late Virgil Martin and Elsie (Layfield) Martin. She has been an East Canton resident for the past 63 years.
Oranna was previously employed at Osnaburg Local Schools and at Kress IGA. She actively participated in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, contributing her time to the United Methodist Women’s group.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie J. “Jack” Loy, three sons, Kevin, Benjamin, and Stephen, one daughter, Diane Loy, and son-in-law Keith Griffin.
Those left to cherish her memories are her four daughters, Joyce (Rich) Swad, Roseann Widder, Janeen (Brian Mitchell) Loy, and Tricia (Randy Hodge) Griffin. One son, Thomas (Kelly) Loy. A daughter-in-law, Karen Loy. 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren; One sister, Barbara Loy, and sister-in-law Ramona Seifer; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to express their condolences on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Sanders East Canton Funeral Home. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Timothy M. Monteith, will be conducted on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 11 am at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. Prior to the funeral service, there will be a visitation period of one hour. The interment is scheduled to occur at Mapleton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Osnaburg Local Schools, care of Loy Memorial Scholarship.
