Nancy E. Morris, 77, lost her valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease on October 22, 2024.
She leaves her husband of 57 years, Larry L. Morris, her sisters Susan Davis of New York and Merri Gensley of Bolivar, brother and sister-in-law Greg and Jeanette Morris, sister-in-law Janet Morris, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, Lynn Boyd and family of Michigan and her beloved dog Jack.
She was preceded in death by her brother Gregory and parents Kenneth and Ellen John.
As the oldest child, she was her father's helper on the farm and formed a lifelong bond with the land and animals, large and small, that would fill her life. Her connection to the environment manifested itself in many ways: farming, gardening (She routinely canned 100 quarts of green beans, her husband's favorite vegetable.), mowing grass, even picking up litter off of the roadside.
A 1964 graduate of East Canton High School, she began her career in the law offices of Paul Hayward and Frank DePasquale. She would work for many lawyers in the Canton area for 41 years. Finishing her career, she specialized in handling estates for Don Miller, Richard Penard, and others.
She and her husband developed an avid interest in archeology and the history of Ohio. She served as President, Vice-President and Secretary of the Sugar Creek Valley chapter of the Archeology Society of Ohio. She also volunteered for 22 years on the excavation at the Nobles Pond site in Jackson Township.
During her long marriage, she and Larry were able to travel many places in the United States and enjoyed fishing trips to Canada. They also were able to visit Africa for a photo safari early in their marriage. There were also many trips to Blossom Music Center as Nancy had developed a love of music playing the clarinet in the East Canton High School Band.
Upon their retirement, she returned to her original love of the farm and informed her husband that they would be raising Black Angus cattle, the same breed she had helped her father raise. They continued farming and raising cattle as long as they were able.
The world was a better place with Nancy in it and her husband considers himself a much better man because she was in his life. We will all miss her greatly.
The family would like to thank the employees of The Inn at Beldon Village for their compassionate and thoughtful care of Nancy in her final months. In addition, the family wishes to thank the nurses of Southern Care Hospice Services for their gentle comfort care of Nancy.
