Myrtle J. Griffing
Myrtle J. Griffing, age 87, of Canton, passed away Wednesday September 5, 2007 in Aultman Hospital. She was born March 14, 1920 in Canton, OH. to the late John and Elsie (Schildtz) Wendell. Myrtle attended the Little Brick Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of Canton Township High School. She was instrumental in organizing the class reunions for her grade school and high school class. She had also re-organized Sisters of the Skillet 4-H Club. Myrtle retired as a secretary for Dr. John Thomas and had formerly been employed by Dr. Henry Clapper, Canton Local Schools and the Stark County Probate Court. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William S. Griffing in 2004; one grandson, Christopher Griffing in 1995; two brothers, Clifford and Kenneth Wendell; one sister, Erscle Almasy. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and W. James Hall of Canton, Nancy and Matt Pendleton of Canton; two sons and daughters-in-law, G. Lynn and Jewell Griffing of Louisville, William D. and Patricia Griffing of Canton; seven grandchildren, Jill, David, Stanley, Douglas, Bruce, Michael and Brett; six great grandchildren, Meredith, Erin, Adam, Drew, Lindsay and Casey; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Bob Young of Waynesburg, Iva and Gene Anthony of East Canton, Donna Lorusso of Plainville, MA; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Coletta Wendell of Malvern. Funeral services will be Saturday September 8, 2007 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Boston officiating. Interment in Sandy Valley Cemetery.
