Mildred I. “Midge” Horton

Age 103, of Canton, passed away Monday January 10, 2022 in Hennis Care Centre of Bolivar. She was born September 24, 1918 in Akron, OH. Midge was a 1936 graduate of Canton McKinley High School and was formerly employed in retail sales throughout the years. Midge was a Canton resident most of her life and had resided in Texas for several years. She was a former member of North Industry Christian Church, Canton South AARP and the former Canton South Lion’s Club. She served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and a poll worker with Stark County Board of Elections for many years. Midge was an avid card player, prepared the best authentic Mexican food and enjoyed her daily phone calls with her sister, while sipping martinis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph S. and Cora B. (VanSickle) Reed; three husbands, John Bruck, John Hilton Horton and Delton Goodenough; one son, Thomas E. Riley; one daughter, Gerry Bess; three sisters, Patricia Mohler, Catherine Carter and Marilyn Simes. Midge is survived by one daughter, Bonnie J. Sanders; daughter-in-law, Carol Riley; dear family friends, Rich and Judy Kuntz; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Funeral services will be Friday January 14, 2022 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Lance Lindenberger officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
