Melvin S. "Pap" Raines
Age 90, of East Canton, passed away Monday March 12, 2012 in Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center. He was born December 3, 1921 in Hamilton, WV to the late Foster and Carrie (Deems) Raines. Pap was an East Canton resident for 59 years, retiring from The Timken Company in 1977 after 32 years of service. He had attended the East Canton Church of God, was a member of the East Canton Lions Club, American Sportsman's Club and Stark County Federation all of which he had served as Past-President. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary E. Raines in 2011; one brother, Fred Raines; one sister, Twila Stewart. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Margie Raines of Zoar, Robert and Molly Raines of East Canton; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday March 16, 2012 at 10:00am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Pastor Michael D. Jones officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday 6-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the East Canton Church of God at 201 E. Nassau St., East Canton, OH 44730.
