Melvin B. Cowles
Age 66, of East Sparta died Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center following a brief illness. Born December 5, 1946 in Canton, OH. to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Moulin) Cowles. He was a life resident of the Canton/East Sparta area and was a 1964 graduate of Canton Lincoln High School. Melvin retired from the Timken Company in 1996 with 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Father and Son Hunting Club. Melvin was a hunter safety instructor for the Ohio Department of Wildlife. Preceded in death by three brothers, Darrel, Jim and Richard Cowles. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lynn A (Farina) Cowles; six children and spouses, Kathy and Harold Peffer of Massillon, Michael and Karie Cowles of Jackson Township, Laura Cowles of Canton, Daniel Smith of Kennasaw, GA., James and Stacie Smith of Virginia Beach, VA. and Brian Smith of Kennasaw, GA; 11 grandchildren, Marcus, Eric and Kristen Peffer, Sydney, Grier, Emerson, Zane and Maxwel Cowles, Sarah Plant, Nathan and Natalie Smith; one sister, Beverly Cowles Webb of North Tonawanda, NY; numerous extended family and friends; his four legged son, Bruiser. A memorial mass will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 am in St. Peter Catholic Church, 726 Cleveland Ave. NW. Canton, OH. 44702, with Fr. Chris Luoni as Celebrant. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Memorial donations may be made to Aultman Hospice or the American Heart Association.
