Melvin Buckley, age 77, of Canton, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Born December 10, 1928, in Dayton, OH. to the late George D. and Leona O. (Woodard) Buckley. He was a Canton area resident since 1953 and a Korean War Navy Veteran. Melvin retired from East Ohio Gas in 1987 after 19 years of service, and was a member of American Legion Post #44, Canton, and AARP. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Lynn Marie Buckley; one brother, Don Buckley; three sisters, Norma Maus, Betty Simms and Martha Buckley. Survived by his wife, Norma Jean (Moore) Buckley to whom he was married 21 years; five sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Renee, Patrick, Timothy, Terrance, Daniel and Lisa Buckley all of Canton; six step-children, Debi Peters, Stephen, Michael and Zach Napier, Melissa Fogg and Joni Hendricks; four grandchildren, Bevin Staley, Nicole, Marissa and Madison Buckley; two great grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey Staley; one sister, Barbara Campbell. A memorial service will be Thursday at 3:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Manley Pierce officiating. Friends may call one hour before services on Thursday (2-3pm) in the funeral home.
