Mary Lou (Cochran) Cody

Age 83, of Canton, died unexpectedly Thursday evening, November 9, 2017. She was born December 19, 1933 in Reader, WV to the late Robert and Jane (Mason) Cochran. She was a 1951 graduate of Bolivar School. Mary Lou worked for Perry Local Schools and retired from Ralph C. Williams in 2003. She was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where she was very active, especially with the apple butter making, Indian Corn festival and banquets. Mary Lou enjoyed camping, traveling across the country, gardening and attracting the birds to her yard; she particularly enjoyed the hummingbirds and bluebirds. She had a passion for knitting, baking cookies and pies for which she was awarded first place at the most recent Stark County Fair. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; a great-granddaughter, Abigail; brother-in-law, Richard Cairns. She will be missed by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Jane and Robert Browning, Theresa and Jeff Schumacher; three grandchildren and spouses, James and Hannah Browning, Sarah and Glenn Amos, Rob and Karen Browning; two great-grandchildren, Eliza Browning and Alexander Amos; two expected great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Cairns and Doris (Ken) Brown; three brothers, Robert (Alta), Henry (Karen) and Ed (Miriam) Cochran; sister-in-law, Ellalee Fisher; many extended family and friends. Funeral services will be Friday November 17, 2017 at 11:00am in the Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. Kelly Paul Brown officiating. Internment in East Union Lawn Cemetery, Navarre. Friends will be received Thursday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Friday at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Otterbein UMC Memorial Fund at 6025 Shepler Church Rd SW, Navarre, OH 44662.
