MARY KAY ZALESKI
Mary Kay Zaleski, 61, of Jackson Township, quietly slipped away early Wednesday morning at The Cleveland Clinic of heart failure.
Born Aug. 15, 1949, in Canton, she was the third of Alexander and Elsie (Keller) Zaleski's four children.
Mary Kay graduated from Tusky Valley High School and Stark Technical College where she earned an associate degree in computer science.
MiMi, or simply M, as she was known to her family, was an entertaining composite of endearing quirks. Rarely seen without Molly, her closest canine friend, or a bottle of Diet Pepsi encased in an insulated cozy, she always was quick and selflessly eager to help needy human acquaintances.
A keen collector, wristwatches were a favorite, though siblings teased her about never being on time for a family function. She did love to spend her leisure time watching movies and television.
Had she lived, Mary Kay would have animatedly regaled friends and family with verbal vignettes of the Elton John concert she was planning to attend in September at Blossom Music Center. Her transportation there? The silver Volkswagen Beetle she adored.
Always close to her parents, who preceded her in death, she is survived by sisters Linda Zaleski (Mark Engle) and Rita Klever and brother Jim "Dusty" Zaleski (Judi). Left with memories are nieces Alison Roberts (Robert), Alexis Wyatt, Kay Klever, Kristine Thompson (Sean), Tamara Lane (Tim) and Theresa Engle; nephews Gabe Hoffa (Robyn), Tommy Zaleski, Jonathan Zaleski, Mark Engle (Kim), Matt Engle (Shellie) and Bret Hoffa (Teresa), and her good friend, Jean Cain. Many great nieces and nephews along with cousins will miss but well remember her laughter.
Services are Saturday, July 2, at Kreighbaum Sanders Funeral Home, 4041 Cleveland Ave. SW, Canton. Calling hours, 3 to 5 p.m.; memorial service at the funeral home at 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Stark County, 408 Ninth St. SW, Canton, OH 44707, or the Stark County Humane Society, P.O. Box 7077, Canton, OH 44705.
