Mary E. Abbott
Mary E. Abbott, age 83, died January 12, 2005, with what gave her the most joy in life; her children and grandchildren around her in her home. Mary was born on July 21, 1921 in Sora, Italy and came to this country at the age of 12 years. She lived her entire life in the Canton area. Mary began taking care of family at a very young age when her mother died and left her to care for her father and three young brothers. The rest of her life was devoted to taking care of her family and she could never understand why anyone would want any other job. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Mary Louise Cirelli; her husband, Cam A. Abbott on December 23, 1977; brothers, Joe and Donald Cirelli; sister, Santina; great-grandson, Henry Fatzinger; nephew, Michael Cirelli; and two special sisters-in-law, Audrey Abbott and Joan Cirelli. She is survived by her children; Mary Jean and Bob Bowe, Jim and Nancy Abbott, Judy and Dan Gill, Donna Abbott, Nancy and Rich Long; grandchildren, Bob and Christine Bowe, Chris Bowe, Marty and Regina Bowe, Stefanie and Brent Fatzinger, Steve and Kara Abbott, Mike and Barb Abbott, Tony Abbott, Aaron and Nathan Long, Camille, Gina and Raymond Gill; great-grandchildren, Jackee, Bryce and Blake Abbott, Gabrielle and Hayley Fatzinger, Sarah and Sophia Bowe; two brothers, Art and Sam Cirelli, in-laws; Jim Abbott, Joe and Pat Abbonizio, Linda Cirelli and several nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Canton, the Altar-Rosary Society and the Columbianas Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. Her family would like to send a special thanks to Marilyn McCoy for her kind and compassionate care, Dr. Stacey Hollaway, Dr. Dina Rooney and their staffs, and the Aultman Hospice Program. A mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10:00am in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Gerald Sommer, MSC, as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 6-9 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. Memorial donations may be made to Mary's favorite charity, St. John's Villa, 701 Crest St, Carrollton, OH 44615 or to the charity of your choice. Mary was truly the "matriarch" of her family and we promise to carry on the strong traditions that she has instilled in us.
