Long, Martha Jean (Syme)
age 81, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend died Saturday June 13, 2009 following a brief illness. She was born September 15, 1927 to the late John and Martha (King) Syme. Martha was a graduate of Byesville High School and retired from the Hoover Company after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities throughout the years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Thomas H. Long in 2006; three brothers, Virgil, Edward and Harry Syme; one sister, Katherine Latham. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Lois Long of Wisconsin, Jon and Jenny Long of Navarre; three daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Dale Mize of Minnesota, Marsha and John Cunningham of Canton, Jill and Dave Nieb of Canton; she was a much loved grandmother and great-grandmother to, Eric and Jacque Mize, Kim and Reed Humphrey, Amy and Jim Heil, Sarah and Dirk Stadtlander, Mark and Leah Long, Stacy (Mike Bailey), Megan Long (Shawn Patrusek), Collin Nieb, Lorenzo Fitzpatrick, Caleb and Joshua Mize, Eva and Ellen Stadtlander, Arterina Bailey, Anastasia Long, Luke and Mason Heil; one sister, Patricia Dyer of Florida; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday June 17, 2009 at 11:00am in Otterbein United Methodist Church with Rev. Debra J. Speer officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church (10-11am).
