Marla Jean (Ring) DeGeorgia
Age 82, of Louisville, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at The Inn at Belden Village surrounded by her family. Born in Woodsfield, Ohio on April 28, 1939 to Vergie (Ring) Atkinson. Marla was a 1957 graduate of Timken High School, where she studied cosmetology.
After graduation, Marla began work as a hair stylist at Georgie’s Salon in downtown Canton. In 1972, she opened her own business. “Chat ‘n Curl” became a fixture in Canton where she provided expert hair styling coupled with conversation and friendship until she retired in 1999. She lived most of her life in Canton, before moving to Louisville in 2001.
Marla was best known for her outgoing and friendly demeanor, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family. She was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren as they brought her immense joy. She will be greatly missed by all. She was a faithful member of the Louisville Church of Christ.She was preceded in death by her mother and husband of more than 60 years, Alex. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Brian) Fink and son, Michael (Anja) DeGeorgia; as well as six grandchildren, Adam (Julie) Fink, Joshua (Nina) Fink, Kyle (Courtney) Fink, Sophia, Julian and Nadia DeGeorgia and five great-grandchildren, Asher, Luke, Ariel, Aurora, and Mira Fink. Also surviving is her fraternal twin brother Dean Ring and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021 at 11:00 am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Brian Grubbs officiating. Entombment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call on hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to Louisville Church of Christ.
