Marion O. Jones
Age 89, of Canton, passed away Sunday August 26, 2012 in Rose Lane Health Center. He was born July 7, 1923 in Blackoak, OH to the late Elias and Susanna (Kernan) Jones. Marion was a WWII Army veteran where he was awarded a purple heart. He was a Canton area resident most of his life and retired from Hercules Engines in 1997 after 30 years of service. Marion was a member of St. Mary's/St. Benedict Parish where he had served as an usher for many years and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the UAW. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Maxine D. (Martin) to whom he was married 66 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leroy and Debi Jones, Dale and Carol Jones all of Canton; five grandchildren, Brian, Brenda, Tiffany, Jeff and Jason; six great-grandchildren, Ciara, Logan, Brooke, Abbey, Megan and Dylan; numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday August 29, 2012 at 10:00am in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. Benson Okpara as celebrant. Interment with military honors in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.sandersfuneralhomes.com.
