Marilyn Martin Icardi, age 71, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 of a heart attack while vacationing in Tennessee. She was born August 3, 1935 in Canton, Ohio to Raymond and Mary Graham. Marilyn spent most of her life living in the Stark/Carroll county area, residing in Louisville, Malvern, Dover and Massillon. Some of her fondest memories were of the nearly 20 years spent residing at Lake Mohawk with her family. Marilyn was a graduate of Canton South High School and Kent State University. She also attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. As a life long educator, Marilyn held many jobs throughout her lifetime. She was most proud of her devotion to her family. She was known as "Mom" to the many children she cared for throughout the years and the many lives she touched as a foster parent and host family for foreign exchange students and the Canton minor league baseball players. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Graham and her first husband, Rev. David E. Martin. She is survived by her mother, Mary Graham of Canton; second husband and high school sweetheart, David Icardi; children, David G. (Kim)Martin of Akron, Mark Martin of Canton, Eric (Salome) Martin of Seattle, WA, Amy (John) Martino of Louisville; grandchildren, David P. and Cory J. Martin, Michelle and Cassidy Martin, Luke Marino; foster daughter, Brenda (Mark) Renicker of Minerva and their children, Noelyn and Aaron; brother, Robert (Sue) Graham of Canton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 1:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pathway Caring for Children, 6370 Wise Ave., Canton, OH. 44720 or Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 5000 Rockside Rd., Independence, OH. 44131. " I shall pass through this world but once. If, therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good things I can do, let me do it now; let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
