Margaret J. Smith, age 63, of East Canton, passed away Monday December 8, 2008 in Aultman Hospital. She was born January 22, 1945 in Chicago, IL. and was a graduate of Hilltop High School in West Unity, OH. Margaret was an East Canton resident since 1965 and a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women. She is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Viola (Gunn) Neefe; one step-granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, Robert P. Smith to whom she was married 21 years; five step-children, Robert P. (Mary) Smith II of N. Canton, Bill (Brenda) Smith of Canton, John (Jennifer) Smith of Mesquite, TX, Jane Labus of Canton, Rebecca (Randy) Ward of Louisville; 6 step-grandchildren; one sister, Ann (Gary) Nelson of Fairport, NY; three brothers, Robert (Rose) Neefe of Columbus, OH, Ronald (Julie) Neefe of Chesapeake, VA, Roger (Jan) Neefe of Westerville, OH; 7 biological siblings who she had the joy to meet in 2004, Ronald, Debbie, Lynette, Carol, Leroy, Dorothy and Gene; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Thursday December 11, 2008 at 1:00pm in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Mitchael Hennessey officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses at 218 E. Nassau St., East Canton, OH 44730.
