Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Linda Joyce Arnold, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2024, while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Canton, Ohio in 1948, Linda was proud to say she was baptized at the Faith Memorial Baptist Church at age 14 by Rev. Mortenson. Feeling the need to help others from an early age, Linda volunteered at Aultman Hospital helping to transfer patients to and from physical therapy. Later, she served as District 6 President of the VFW post 3747 from 2000 – 2001 and Chaplin from 1995 – 2000. She was also a member of the Amvets post 124 where she served as an officer for a few years and the Louisville Eagles. She belonged to the Ford Club for ten years and participated in car shows with her red 1964 Ford Falcon. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, making flower arrangements, reading, traveling, going on cruises, making crafts and traveling the craft show circuit with her two sisters who called themselves ‘The Three Blind Mice’. Most recently, she was honored to become a member of the Canton Freewill Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshiping her Lord and Savior. Her proudest accomplishment, however, was becoming a mother and grandmother. She loved spending every available moment with her family, and she strived to always make beautiful memories that will be forever treasured by all who knew her.
Linda was preceded in death by her son, Roger I. Arnold; mother and stepfather, Georgia and Walter Patterson Sr.; sisters, Georgia Marion Patterson and Janet R. Lopez; and grandmother, Julia Clevinger.
Linda is survived by her husband Roger E. Arnold; daughter, Lisa R. (Randy) Shaffer; grandson, Xander P. Shaffer; granddaughter, Star A. Shaffer; brother, Walter Patterson Jr.; sister, Donna Daugherty and many loving nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 4 to 6 pm, and Monday, October 28, 2024 from 10:30 - 11:30 am followed by the funeral service at 11:30 am, at Canton Free Will Baptist Church. Linda’s funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Anthony Mayle; she will be laid to rest in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
