Lillian M. R. Metzger
Lillian M. R. Metzger, age 97, of East Canton, passed away Wednesday January 21, 2009 in her home. She was born September 12, 1911 in Canton, OH. to the late Jabez and Maude (Daily) Dudley. Lillian was a 1929 graduate of McKinley High School and an East Canton resident for the past 72 years. She retired from the Stark County Clerk of Courts in 1977 and was a member of Wild Wood Chapel and had attended Mapleton United Methodist Church. Lillian had served as a pianist and organist for various churches for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Norman C. Metzger to whom she was married 67 years; one grandson, Bruce Metzger; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Norman C. and Norma Metzger Jr. of Canton, Richard and Carol Metzger of N. Carolina, Robert and Carolyn Metzger of Canton, Gary and Sherry Metzger of Malvern, Timothy and Sherry Metzger of Louisville; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Richard Shearer of East Canton; 17 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; one foster sister, Lois Garmey of N. Canton. Funeral services will be Monday January 26, 2009 at 10:00am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Tom Woodson officiating. Interment in St. Jacob's Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 2-5pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mercy Hospice at 7568 Whipple Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720.
