Age 97, passed away on to her eternal rest on December 13, 2014. She was the wife of Clark E. Kandel Sr. with whom she would have celebrated their 80th anniversary on June 12, 2015. Lillian is survived by her husband, Clark E. Kandel Sr.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Laurene, Clark Jr. and Linda, James and Elizabeth, Warren and Barbara all of the area; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Lillian was the youngest child of the late Rob and Ida Sponseller and is also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Lloyd Sponseller; three sisters, Dorothy Stuckey, Flossie Vandegrift and Elva Waltz; one daughter-in-law, Mary Kandel. Clark and Lillian resided in East Canton for 40 years, of which 30 years were in rural Osnaburg Township and more recently they had resided at Copeland Oaks, Sebring, OH for 14 years. They traveled extensively in their earlier years. Lillian was content to be a homemaker, with an eye for floral, art and design, including needlepoint, quelling and ceramics. Clark and Lillian were instrumental in the establishment of the Osnaburg Historical Society Center in the Stagecoach Inn, Known as the Werner Inn in East Canton. Lillian was a faithful member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church where she formerly served as church organist. She enjoyed playing and listening to organ music; it was one of her great pleasures. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Louisville for 65 years. Her smile and kind heart will be missed by all. A service of celebration will be Sunday December 21, 2014 at 1:30pm in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with her son, Rev. Clark Kandel Jr. and Pastor Tim Monteith officiating. Friends will be received Saturday 2-5pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at 108 E. Walnut St E., East Canton, OH 44730 or the Osnaburg Historical Society at 131 E.
