Leonard C. Dazey
Age 86, of Canton died Saturday, January 15, 2011 in Oakhill Manor Care Center following an extended illness. Born October 13, 1924 in Canton to the late Charles W. and Vesta (Phillips) Dazey. He was a life resident of Canton and a U.S. Army WWII veteran serving with the Fighting 69th. Leonard retired from Ohio Bell in 1982 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge #60, Lion's Club International, Telephone Company Pioneers and was very active with Toys of Love for many years. Preceded in death by one sister, Lois Clapper. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alma E. (Gogerty) Dazey; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Debra Dazey of Waynesburg, Charles and Tina Dazey of Louisville, Leroy and Darlene Dazey of Clinton, Bill and Susan Dazey of Canton; one daughter and fiancée Lu-Ann Dazey and Craig Fowler of Juneau, AK; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Lois Dazey of East Sparta; two sisters, Grace Hendershot of Canton, Vesta Reehl of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at 11:00 am in Epworth United Methodist Church, 2150 17th St. S.E., Canton, OH. 44707, with Rev. Carolyn Nichols officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church from 10-11 am.
