Leland E. Covert
Leland E. Covert, age 79, of Canton, passed away Sunday November 4, 2007 in Aultman Hospital following and extended illness. He was born May 17, 1928 in Bakersfield, CA, to the late Charles and Elva (Myers) Covert. Leland was a graduate of Woodsfield High School and a Canton area resident since 1950. He retired from the Diebold Company in 1990 after 34 years of service. He was a member of Canton South Church of the Nazarene and the Canton Amateur Radio Club (KA8FTM). In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four brothers, Ivan, Orland, Arch and Arthur Covert. Leland is survived by his wife, Janice E. (Hershberger) to whom he was married 52 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ron Covert of Canton and his fiancee, Nichole Morris, Doug and Denise Covert of Canton, Jeff and Heather Covert of East Canton; 10 grandchildren, Anthony, Megan, Daniel, Emily, Shawn, Benjamen, David, Matt, Kyle and Collin; one sister, Thelma Shaw of Canton. Funeral services will be Wednesday November 7, 2007 at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, Canton, with Pastor Wesley Thompson and Pastor Wayne Cummings officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8pm in the funeral home and one hour before services on Wednesday (12-1pm). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canton South Church of the Nazarene at 112 Mill St SW, Canton, OH 44706.
