Kirk Mittas
Age 85, of Canton died Monday, August 14, 2017 in the Laurels of Massillon. Born November 17, 1931 in Salonika, Greece to the late Basilis and Marika (Mezes) Mittas. Kirk served two years in the Greek Army and came to Canton from Greece in 1968. He was the retired owner/operator of Mittas Meats for 15 years and was formerly employed by Superior Brand Meats. Kirk was a member of St. Harambolis Greek Orthodox Church, former member of Canton South Lions Club, Lathrop Lodge F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Order of A.H.E.P.A. Preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Mittas in 2007; one son, Timothy Matthews. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, William Mittas, Charles and Lisa Matthews, Tony and Clarissa Mittas, Michael and Krissy Mittas; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother and spouse, Gust and Clara Mittas; one sister, Alex Homatidou. Funeral services will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 5:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave with Pastor Dimetri Mittas officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m.
