Katherine E. Seaman

Age 91, of East Canton died Friday, July 7, 2017 in the Pines Nursing Home following an extended illness. Born June 14, 1926 in Canton, Ohio to the late Raleigh and Mattie Mae (Clark) Braswell. She was a life resident of the Canton area. Kate was formerly employed with the Canton Repository and the Press News newspapers. She was a member since 1960 of the Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, was a member of the quilting group, wrote the church’s history and taught catechism class when the church was located in East Canton. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Seaman in 1998; two sisters, Maxine Mentzer and Violet Schissler. She is survived by four children and spouses, David and Francie Seaman of East Canton, Daniel and Linda Seaman of Minot, ND; Mary and John Mahlendorf of Clinton, OH; Maude Cerrato of East Canton; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews including Pamela Lanzer of Louisville. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Pines Nursing Home in Canton and Mercy Hospice. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 11:00 am in Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church, 930 Nickel Plate S., Louisville, OH 44641, with her son, Dave Seaman officiating. Interment in Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be made to Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church.
