Junior Sherwood
Age 92, of Magnolia, passed away Saturday August 29, 2015 in Hennis Care Center, Bolivar. He was born September 3, 1922 in Hudson, OH to the late Bayard and Martha E. (Bond) Sherwood. Junior became a battle-hardened WWII Army veteran with the second wave at Normandy on D-Day, on into Paris, the Ardennes, and into the Rhineland, where he drove an ammunition truck while serving under General George Patton. He retired from the Iron Workers Local #550 in 1987. In addition to his parents, Junior is preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne and Willard Sherwood; one sister, Nona Ramsey. He is survived by his wife, Dorolee A. (Miller) to whom he would have celebrated 52 years of marriage in October; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Deborah Kiggans of New Matamoras, Danny Kiggans of Columbus, Larry and Linda Kiggans of Damascus, Oregon; a half-brother, Richard Sherwood; one nephew, Jack Sherwood; two nieces, Denise Watson and Nona Sue Knight; and extended family. He loved his family, warm weather, politics, and cats. A graveside service will be Friday September 4, 2015 at 10:00am in Sunset Hills Burial Park with Terry Bailey officiating.
