June W. McCarthy, age 87, of Canton died Thursday, April 12, 2007 in the Canton Regency following a brief illness. Born May 31, 1919 in Uhrichsville, OH. to the late Earl and Ida (Abel) Capper. June was a 1937 graduate of Uhrichsville High School. She was a Canton area resident for the past 50 years and retired from the Canton Local School District in 1984 after 23 years of service. Member of North Industry United Methodist Church and Canton South AARP #4885. Preceded in death by her husband, Florie A. "Caddy" McCarthy in 2001 to whom she was married 62 years; one grandson, Craig McCarthy. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Richard Fliger of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Cristene McCarthy of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Shawn T. McCarthy (Donna) of Dover, Kathleen Celce (Jason) of North Canton, Shane M. Fliger of Canton; six great grandchildren, Markie Kate, Alyson C. and Alexis W. McCarthy, Tyler R., Brennen C. and Connor M. Celce. Funeral services will be Sunday, April 15, 2007 at 3:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Rev. David Ross officiating. Inurnment in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia, OH. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Sunday (1 - 3 pm). Memorial donations may be made to the Craig M. McCarthy Memorial Scholarship Fund, The University of Akron, School of Law, Akron, OH. 44325.
