John Zagan Jr.
Age 95, of Canton, passed away Saturday February 5, 2011 in Aultman Hospital. He was born July 31, 1915 in Canton to the late John and Maria (Milosan) Zagan Sr. John was a life resident of the Canton area and a 1933 graduate of McKinley High School. He retired from the Ford Motor Company in 1981 and was the former owner/operator of Zagan's Tavern in Massillon for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral where he had the honor of being the oldest member and his father a founding member. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-mother, Helen Zagan; his wife, Victoria Zagan in 1992 to whom he was married 53 years; one brother and a sister-in-law, Earl and Virginia Zagan; one uncle and aunt, Mike and Eva Milosan. He is survived by one son, John Zagan III of Columbus, OH; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Jim Fliger of Bolivar; three grandchildren, Kathy Fliger of Bolivar and her fiancé, Mike Shoffner, Adam and Lacey Fliger of Arlington, TX, Andrew and Lanette Fliger of Bolivar; one great-granddaughter, Alexis Fliger of Arlington, TX. Services will be Wednesday February 9, 2011 at 10:00am in St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral with the Rev. Fr. Ovidiu Marginean as celebrant. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Saracusta services at 7:30pm and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday (9-10am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral at 1121 – 44th St NE, Canton, OH 44714.
