John R. Thompson
John R. Thompson, age 67, of Canton, passed away Thursday May 8, 2008 in his home following an extended illness. He was born May 10, 1940, in Byesville, OH. to the late Robert H. and Betty K. (LaRue) Thompson. John was a Canton area resident most of his life, retiring as President and CEO of U.S. New Mexico Federal Credit Union in 2000. He was a 1958 graduate of Timken High School. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, J. R. Thompson in 2002. He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Werker) to whom he was married 45 years; one daughter, Dayna Thompson of Canton; three grandchildren, A. J. Collier of Canton, Annie Thompson of Canton, Amanda Thompson of Denver, CO.; several cousins and extended family also survive. A memorial service will be conducted at a future date at the convenience of the family. The Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
