John William May, age 87, passed away suddenly at home on March 19, 2025. He was born on November 30, 1937, in Canton, to Glenn and Ada (Smith) May.
John retired from Collins and Aikman (Akro Corporation). He was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was fixing a car or tackling home maintenance.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four sons: John “Shorty” (Cindy) May, Ron (Lori) May, Don (Amy) May and Joe (Lisa) May; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Bob) Russell, John (Ashley) May III, Ronnie (Holly) May, Jared (Tierra) May, Christopher May, Hunter May, Andy (Abi) May, Michael (Brittany) May, and Nick (Brittany) May; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Martha A. May; brothers, James May and Robert “Sam” May; and sister, Sue Rodgers.
A visitation will be held at Kreighbaum Sanders Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22nd from 3:00-5:00 p.m. John will be laid to rest beside his wife at Melscheimer Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canton South Youth Baseball, 723 39th St. SW, Canton, Ohio 44706.
