John E. Lewis age 75 of East Canton died February 6, 2023, at Aultman Compassionate Care Center. He was born in Sandy Hook, Kentucky on July 26, 1947, to the late Thurman Lewis and Edna (Todd) Lewis. He attended Canton McKinley High School. John retired in 2000 from the Timken Co. where he served as a finisher.
John was a member of the Sandy Valley Church of God where he served as head usher, council member and various other capacities in the church. He proudly served in the United States Army. However, Johns greatest joy was spending time with his family.
John is preceded in death by his parents, two bother-in-laws Robert Keeton and Joseph Leggett and A nephew Michael Leggett. He is survived by three Sisters Naomi Keeton, Loretta Leggett and Phyllis (David) Fowler. 5-Nieces Sherrie (Greg Mayreis) Greku, Shelly (Tim) Ware, Lori (Quinn) Stallings, Amy (Kris) Kinser and Kristen (Joseph) Garrett. One Nephew Allen (Melanie) Keeton. Aunt Betty Salyers and many beloved great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 5 – 7pm. at the Sanders Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday February 10, 2023, at 11:00am at the Sandy Valley Church of God with Pastor Joel Donahue officiating. Following the service Internment will be held at Melscheimer Cemetery.
