John Calvin Bergert
age 69, of Canton. We celebrate the life and mourn the passing of John, who passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 17, 2009. He was born September 9, 1939 in Canton to the late Arthur and Wilma (Boggs) Bergert. John was a 1957 graduate of Canton South High School, received his bachelor degree from Malone College and a masters degree from Akron University. John proudly served in the Ohio National Guard. He retired from Canton Local Schools in 1998 after 30 years as an educator. He was very active in the Canton Local education activities and organizations. He was a member of First United Church of Christ and served in various activities at the church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Hayden Bergert. He is survived by his wife, Margaret A. (Williams) to whom he was married 34 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Jennifer Bergert of Louisville; one daughter, Megan Bergert of Ravenna, OH; two grandchildren, Logan and Abigail Bergert; one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Becky Bergert of Akron; many extended family and loving friends. Funeral services will be Saturday February 21, 2009 at 11:00am in First Church of the Resurrection with Dr. John Williams, Rev. David Williams and Rev. Marilyn Meeker-Williams officiating. Interment in Warstler Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
