John J. Almasy
Age 81, of Canton died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Born November 25, 1930 in Canton, OH. to the late Simon and Susie (Salanci) Almasy. He was a life resident of Canton and a graduate of Canton Timken High School. John was a U.S. Marine Korean War veteran. He retired from the United States Postal Service with 36 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary/ St. Benedict Catholic Parish where he served as a lector for many years. He was also a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols and the Slovak Singers. Preceded in death by one son, David Almasy; one sister, Irene Knis. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Josephine H. (Lehotay) Almasy; six children and spouses, Janet Wilks of Columbus, OH; Richard and Eva Almasy of Canton, Joseph and Karen Almasy of Canton, Dennis "Butch" and Ann Almasy of Canton, Cathy and Dave Stock of Minerva, Tony Almasy of Canton; 15 grandchildren, Ragon (Chris) Wilks, Singin (Kristen) Wilks, Janko Almasy, Zuki Almasy, Sam Almasy, Kevin Almasy, Sarah (Bill) Patterson, Christie Almasy, Tim (Kelly) Almasy, Dan (Stephanie) Almasy, Jen Almasy, Rachel Almasy, Jonathan Stock, Alesha Stock, Matthew (Bekha) Stock; 6 great grandchildren, Tayler Honey, Maleah Young, Spencer Wilks, Joey Patterson, Kaden Almasy, Kolton Almasy. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 19, 2012 at 10:00 am at St. Benedict Catholic Church Site with Fr. Benson Okpara as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 2-5 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave.
