Joe A. Lopez
Age 89, of Canton died Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Shady Lawn Nursing Home. Born May 6, 1924 in Nazareth, PA. to the late Manuel and Rose Lopez. He was a Canton area resident most of his life. Joe was a U.S. Army WWII veteran where he served in the European Theatre receiving 5 Bronze Stars. He was a retired sheet metal worker. Joe was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple, Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #33 and the American Legion. Preceded in death by three daughters, Linda, Sharon and Carol Lopez; three sisters, Elizabeth, Irene and Mary; four brothers, Harry, Anthony, Allen and Victor Lopez. He is survived by Lillian Lopez; three daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and John Stewart of Jackson Township, Debbie and Jerry Rose of Massillon, Cheryl and Jeffrey Sandor of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Brenda Lopez of Massillon; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and Rambo. Funeral services will be Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Interment in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 pm.
